Certificate in Spectator Safety

Overview

The standards, Assessment Strategy and qualification structures for Spectator Safety are owned by Skills Active, who reviewed these National Occupational Standards.

The Qualification has been developed from the National Occupational Standards. The Highfields Level 2 in Spectator Safety gives recognition of candidates’ skills, knowledge and understanding.

It allows candidates to gain a qualification in the workplace that relates to their job and promotes good working practice. The Highfields Level 2 in Spectator Safety provides a nationally recognised competence-based qualification appropriate to the work of stewards and marshals in spectator events, especially events taking place within sports stadiums.

Qualification Content

The primary target group is stewards who provide services – such as health, safety and security, customer service to help spectators have a safe and enjoyable experience at the event.

Typical settings will be events held at either indoor or outdoor facilities The Highfields Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety is designed for people working in, or aspiring to work in, the spectator safety sector.

The learner must achieve all 29 credits from the 6 mandatory units.

Benefits

This qualification satisfies the qualification requirements for people working in licensed venues as set out in the Football Licensing Authority’s Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (‘the green guide’).

This qualification requires individuals to demonstrate competence against National Occupational Standards, which are based on the needs of the sector as defined by Skills Active, the Sector Skills Council. As such it contributes to the development of skilled labour in the sector
